About the Booth Centre
The Salvation Army Booth Centre in St. Catharines has a history or providing excellent
service since 1952. The present building was opened in 1958. The programming included
treatment for Alcoholism in the early days but that is no longer done here. Currently
we operate a 20 bed emergency hostel and a 12 bed federal halfway house. The hostel
has a funding agreement with the Region of Niagara on a per diem for bed stays
as well as receiving cash paying clients. The Halfway house is known as a CRF
(Community Release Facility) it is operated under contract with Correctional Service
Canada. Clients for the CRF are accepted only from CSC following approval by our
community assessment team. The Salvation Army Booth Centre also provides court
support workers in the St. Catharines' courthouse. The worker is there to provide
limited support to victims and the families of the accused as well as the accused.
This is done on a part-time basis on weekday mornings. The Salvation Army Booth
Centre also provides for chaplaincy staff visits at the Niagara Detention Centre
as well as a monthly chapel service. This allows us to have contact with the clients
who are sometimes in need of our services when they are released. The Salvation
Army Booth Centre under the National family-tracing program of The Salvation Army
helps to reunite families who have lost contact with each other. If you would
like more information on any of these services please feel free to contact the
Booth Centre.
